Message from Superintendent Caleris - Celebrating Another Successful School Year!

Posted Date: 06/04/26 (01:00 PM)

Dear Hurricane School Community and Families,

As we close another successful academic year, I want to take a moment to celebrate the achievements, milestones, and memories that have strengthened our school community throughout the year. I am incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished together and excited for the opportunities for growth and success that lie ahead.

To our students returning in the fall, enjoy your summer break! Stay active, spend time with family and friends, and take some time to reflect on your goals for the upcoming school year.

As we celebrate our graduates, we also “say farewell” to several dedicated faculty and staff members whose commitment, sacrifice, and service have made a lasting impact on our schools and community. On behalf of the Board of Education, faculty, staff, students, and families, thank you for your dedication and best wishes in your next journey.

You will Forever Be A Hurricane!

Cindy Hennings, Head Cleaner

Mark Schneider, Custodian

Barb Manley, District Nurse

Terri Beck, Health Aide (K-7)

Jennifer Hengsteler, Intervention Specialist

Kelly Marsico, Intervention Specialist

Ken Rademaker, High School English

Kevin Meehan, High School Math

Paula Jones, Director of Pupil Services

Denise Sinko, Physical Education (K-5)

As the school year comes to an end, I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who plays an integral role in the success of Brooklyn City Schools.

Thank you to our Board of Education for your leadership, guidance, and unwavering support throughout the year.

Thank you to our administrators, faculty, and staff for the care, dedication, and commitment you demonstrate each day in supporting our students, families, and one another. Your work makes a tremendous difference in the lives of our students, and our success would not be possible without you.

Finally, thank you to our students, parents, and families for your continued partnership and support throughout the school year. I hope you all have an opportunity this summer to relax, recharge, and enjoy time together.

Have a safe, relaxing, and wonderful summer break. I hope you enjoy time with family and friends and take the opportunity to recharge for the year ahead. I look forward to welcoming everyone back in August — the first day of school will be here before we know it!

Warm regards,

Dr. Theodore Caleris, Superintendent
